UNIQUE TRAINING

AFLL instructors are uniquely qualified to teach and to examine on Airline and Business Jet aircraft and can therefore ensure that flying skills taught on GA aircraft are transferable to Airline and Business Jet aircraft categories. This is a potentially serious weak link in the wider GA instructor community that can lead to a large variation in standards and teaching practices/content that are a cause for concern.

The Significant Seven Unique Attributes of AFLL

AFLL teaches the art of inspired, elegant and precise flying

The most important consideration that a prospective student of flying needs to make in choosing flying training is the experience and skill of the instructor to impart knowledge, skills and attitudes to the trainee. The seven attributes below have been identified by AFLL.

1.    Instructor Selection - AFLL policy of its instructors having been selected, trained and standardised by leading ATOs (not “self-selected” !)

2.     Standardisation and frequent/regular training of each instructor

3.     Focus on learning content and instructional techniques that are most practical based on evidence / feedback from industry

4.     Use of Aircraft With Conventional Handling Qualities when undertaking UPRT (avoidance of machines with no/minimal static margin)

5.    Adaptive Learning - client needs and learning style individually assessed and bespoke course tailored specifically to meet those needs

6.     Continuity of Instruction - ratio of students per instructor (ideally one but exceptionally two if there is a training gain from observation)

7.     Transferability of Skills through careful course design
